2016-17 Topps German Bundesliga Stickers #99 Christian Pulisic

When Christian Pulisic began his professional career in the German Bundesliga in 2016 at 17 years old, no Bundesliga-only premium cards were made (Topps Chrome Bundesliga began with the 2018-19 set).  Pulisic did have four Bundesliga-only issues across two sets, however.  These four consist of two stickers (2016-17 Topps German Bundesliga Stickers #99 and #207) and two cards (2016-17 Topps Match Attax German Bundesliga #79 and #604).

Pulisic’s only rookie stickers, meanwhile, consist of the aforementioned 2016-17 Topps German Bundesliga Stickers #99 and #207 and the 2016-17 Topps UEFA Champions League Stickers #DOR12/DOR 13 Christian Pulisic & Julian Weigl.  The exact print run of the Topps Bundesliga Stickers is unknown, but the German-only issuance of the Topps Bundesliga Stickers served to limit the print run and raw copies are not available in large quantities these days.  The Champions League stickers, by contrast, is generally a less popular option among collectors because Pulisic shares the Champions League Stickers with Julian Weigl and it has a wider, worldwide distribution, with large quantities of the Champions League Stickers with Julian Weigl always available on platforms such as eBay.com.

From looking at the 2016-17 Topps German Bundesliga Stickers themselves, without looking at the stickers binder, it is difficult to understand why Pulisic has two stickers in the set.  Pulisic’s Sticker #99 can be viewed as the base sticker in the set; this sticker would be placed on the album pages for Borussia Dortmund, Pulisic’s rookie year club team.  By contrast, the 2016-17 Topps German Bundesliga Stickers #207 would be placed on a page of stickers of international (non-German) stars, even though the sticker itself does not contain any wording such as “international stars.”

As is often the case with soccer stickers, the 2016-17 Topps German Bundesliga Stickers #99 is a difficult grade relative to most trading cards, and the small number of graded stickers in any condition further illustrate the relative scarcity of this and Pulisic’s other Bundesliga rookie stickers to his rookie UEFA Champions League Stickers.  As of January 2026, only 76 copies have been graded by PSA, and of these only 19 have been graded a PSA 10.  Other grading services have graded very few of the stickers but have given higher grades.  Only four have been graded at BGS, all of which are graded 9.5, and four graded at SGC, including three 9.5 grades.  CGC has graded one sticker, a 10. By contrast, over 1,000 of the UEFA Champions League stickers have been graded.

In soccer collecting, stickers have historically played a much larger role for collectors than in other American sports because prior to recent years stickers were sometimes the only product issue for a league in a given year.  Given this, and this sticker’s German-only issue, this is a desirable product for Pulisic collectors.
