The ultimate guide to collecting USMNT star Christian Pulisic rookie cards
2016-17 Panini Aficionado Global Reach Subset #184 Christian Pulisic
The 2016-17 Panini Aficionado Soccer product was released toward the later stages of Christian Pulisic’s rookie season on April 26, 2017. The Aficionado brand was re-introduced by Panini in 2016-17 for soccer and basketball 20 years after it was used by Pinnacle to produce a premium 1996 baseball set. Like its baseball predecessor in 1996, the soccer and basketball products each only had one-year set runs in 2016-17. The 2016-17 Panini Aficionado Soccer product includes four total Christian Pulisic rookie-year cards: a base rookie card #41 (which has six parallels, including the base version), a Global Reach subset card #184 (which has five parallels, including the base version), a Craftworks insert card (which has no parallel versions), and a First Impressions autographed insert card (which has four parallels, including the base version). The base cards in the set mimic the design of the base cards in the 1996 Pinnacle Aficionado baseball set, and the 40-card Global Reach subset similarly mimics the 10-card Global Reach subset in its 1996 predecessor.
The 2016-17 Panini Aficionado Soccer product was only issued in hobby boxes that each included one serial numbered autograph card per box. Thus, we can sum all these serial numbers and conclude there are 16,660 total autograph cards and the same number of boxes produced, allowing us to use pull rates to calculate print runs of each card.
The 2016-17 Panini Aficionado Global Reach subset #184 Christian Pulisic is short-printed relative to the base rookie card. The base level Global Reach subset cards are pulled at four per box and there are a total of 40 different players featured in this short-printed subset (#151-#190). The identified universe of16,660 boxes will generate 66,640 cards or 1,666 copies per player, thus there are only 1,666 copies of the 2016-17 Panini Aficionado Global Reach subset #184 Christian Pulisic base card. The “base” Global Reach Artist’s Proof parallel cards are pulled at a rate of approximately one in three boxes, or four per case. This means there are 139 Artist’s Proof cards for each of the 40 cards, including the Pulisic.
Unlike the base cards in the set, Global Reach subset cards do not have the ultra-rare First Kick parallels.
The three serial numbered 2016-17 Panini Aficionado Global Reach subset #184 Christian Pulisic Artist’s Proof parallel cards are the Red /99, Bronze /49 and Gold 1/1. Like with the base rookie card Red Artist’s Proof parallel, be cognizant of grading platforms labeling the Red /99 parallels of this card as “Purple.”
In summary, here is a table showing all five versions of the Panini Aficionado Global Reach subset #184 Christian Pulisic card and what we believe to be the full print runs of each, from least rare to most rare:
Version | Print Run | Print Run Basis | Boxes For One Pulisic | Cases for One Pulisic |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Base | 1,666 | Calculated | 10.00 | 0.83 |
Artist's Proof | 139 | Calculated | 119.86 | 9.98 |

Bronze Artist's Proof | 49 | Serial Numbered | 340.00 | 280.30 |
Gold Artist's Proof | 1 | Serial Numbered | 16,660.00 | 1,388.33 |
Any #184 | 1,954 | 8.53 | 0.71 |
As of January 2026, PSA has graded 68 copies of the base Global Reach card, with 13 of these graded a PSA 10. PSA also has graded 14 copies of the Artist’s Proof parallel, only two of which are graded PSA 10. Across all three other parallels, 23 copies have been graded by PSA in any condition and only one card has been graded higher than a PSA 9 (16 Red Artist’s Proofs /99 have been graded, with nine graded PSA 9 and all others lower; seven Bronze Artist’s Proofs /49 have been graded, with one graded PSA 10, three graded PSA 9, and all others lower). The 1/1 Gold Artist’s Proof has not been graded by PSA (or any other grading company). BGS has graded only one copy of the base card (a BGS 9.5), one copy of the Artist’s Proof (a BGS 9), and one copy of the Red Artist’s Proof /99 (called Purple, and graded a BGS 9). CGC’s population appears to be 20 total base cards split across two separate groupings (with only one CGC 10 grade) and four Artist’s Proofs (one graded 9.5 and all others lower). SGC has graded nine copies of the base card (with four graded gem mint), two copies of the Red Artist’s Proof /99 (neither of which are graded gem mint) and one copy of the Bronze Artist’s Proof /49 (again not graded a gem mint).
