2016-17 Borussia Dortmund Team Issued (Oversized) Christian Pulisic

Many European soccer teams issue team-produced oversized autograph cards – cards designed for players to sign with an on-card, hand signed autograph (not a facsimile autograph).  These cards are often produced by teams in Germany and have been for decades.  Teams will distribute these autograph cards in response to autograph requests through the mail and at official team events.  In some instances, unsigned versions of the cards are distributed as well.  There also are instances where the cards are made in multiple languages, for instance if a club has an overseas tour and distributes cards in the local language as part of related promotional efforts.

 

Christian Pulisic began his professional career with Borussia Dortmund and had Borussia Dortmund-produced oversized autograph cards made in his 2016-17 rookie year, as well as each of the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons before he departed for Chelsea ahead of the 2019-20 season.  We believe the 2016-17 Pulisic oversized autograph card was only distributed in a German version; subsequent seasons did feature versions in additional languages, however, including as part of overseas offseason tours done by Borussia Dortmund.  The 2016-17 rookie version is easily identified by looking at the back of the card, which states “Saison 2016/17.”
