2016-17 Topps Match Attax German Bundesliga #604 Christian Pulisic

 

When Christian Pulisic began his professional career in the German Bundesliga in 2016 at 17 years old, no Bundesliga-only premium cards were made (Topps Chrome Bundesliga began with the 2018-19 set).  Pulisic did have four Bundesliga-only issues across two sets, however.  These four consist of two stickers (2016-17 Topps German Bundesliga Stickers #99 and #207) and two cards (2016-17 Topps Match Attax German Bundesliga #79 and #604).

Match Attax is the world’s best-selling soccer trading card game (TCG), produced by Topps since 2006 across different soccer leagues around the world.  These TCG cards allow two players to play a game against each other within a set of rules that govern formations, player selection, and tactics using player statistic ratings on the cards to decide the winner of individual sequences of play and, ultimately, the game.

Match Attax often produces an “Extra” series of cards as a mid-season update to issue cards of players that change teams during the January transfer window, or to issue cards with boosted player statistics due to performance or special moments.  This was done with the 2016-17 German Bundesliga Match Attax set, and this “Extra” series of cards was not separately numbered from the initial series of cards.

Pulisic’s card #604 is his 2016-17 Topps Match Attax German Bundesliga Extra card.  The card features a Silver foil design as part of the 18-card “Magischer Moment” subset (German for “Magic Moment”).  The exact print run is unknown, but, as with the base card, the German-only issuance served to limit the print run and raw copies are not available in large quantities these days.  “Extra” series of Match Attax appear to often have an even smaller print run as well, and this is reflected in the grading population reports for this card; the small number of graded base cards is lowered even further when analyzing the number of graded “Extra” cards.  As of January 2026, only 55 copies of the card have been graded by PSA in all conditions, with only ten graded PSA 10.  Nine total have been graded at BGS, with seven 9.5 grades and no 10 grades.  Three have been graded by CGC, with one graded 10 and none graded 9.5.  Only two have been graded at SGC, neither of which has graded a 10.
